Skincare Routine: My Guide To Healthy & Glowing Skin

A good skincare routine is essential at any age to help prevent skin problems and to help prepare you skin for aging. Everyone’s skin is different so your skincare routine will vary depending on the person and the product. There are a number of factors that play into your skin including your diet, hormonal changes, lack of sleep, the weather, exposure to pollutants and allergens. Prevention is easier than correction, so getting a jumpstart on your routine and making changes for the better can save you the trouble later.

Daytime and nightime skincare routine varies based on treatment. Your daytime skincare routine focuses on protection from sun damage and any pollutants while your nighttime routine should be about keeping your skin hydrated and addressing any skin concerns while your skin is rejuvenating as you sleep. Daytime = protection mode, Nightime = repair mode.

No need to get overwhelmed with how many products you need to use, some people use more than others which is perfectly fine. Overall, stay consistent with your routine and make a commitment to take care of your skin. Not all products work for every skin type, so don’t get discouraged if something doesn’t respond with your skin. Don’t be afraid to experiment until you find the perfect products for you to give you healthy, glowing skin.

Here are some steps on how I manage my skin to stay healthy day and night:

Water

Drinking water is important for your overall health, but if your skin isn’t getting the sufficient amount of water to hydrate then it can lead to dry, tight and flaky skin. Make sure to get your 8 glasses of water per day to give you radiant skin.

Cleanser

Finding a cleanser that works for you skin can be a journey. Lately, I’ve been using a TikTok find PanOxyl Acne Foaming Wash Benzoyl Peroxide 10% Maximum Strength but I also love to use the Cerave Hydrating Facial Cleanser. These cleansers help to treat my acne whenever I have a bad breakout and just overall hydrates my skin.

Toner

Toner helps to close and tighten the pores after cleansing, creating a more vibrant appearance. Thayers has a great toner that leaves your skin feeling renewed. I often switch up and like to use astringent when I’m going for a deeper cleanse, but too much of it can be drying so be careful.

Eye Serum/Cream

I have hereditary designer bags and also wear glasses which in my opinion casts a dark shadow under my eyes so under eye care is very important to me. I found a solution through the Topicals Faded Starter Kit. These products reduce the look of discoloration from dark circles, de-puff, and hydrate the extra-sensitive skin under your eyes.

Serum

I love The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 serum, its the perfect base before I apply my moisturizer for the silky, hydrating skin. I use the Derma E Acne Blemish Control Treatment Serum at night, which has tea tree oil in it and is perfect for acne prone skin. Anti-aging and firming serums are always a good choice to help combat fine lines, wrinkles and improve the skins appearance.

Moisturize

I like to experiment with moisturizers, whether it’s drugstore or high end I don’t judge because both are proven to work. My current favorite is the Philosophy Hope In A Jar Hyaluronic Glow Moisturizer, this moisturizer leaves my skin feeling like heaven. Sometimes I opt for a nice fragrance free moisturizer like Cerave during my acne crisis’, but use what works best for you. I love to use Mario Badescu Rosewater Facial Spray before I moisturize for added hydration, followed by an oil of my choice to seal in all the goodness!

SPF

Since I use an oil based SPF, I save this step for last. I use SuperGoop! Glow Oil, not only does it seal in all the moisture from my skincare routine, but its a lightweight oil that leaves your skin hydrated and doesn’t have the white cast like other sun protectants.
